Overview

MemeReact is a meme reaction keyboard overlay for Android. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data MemeReact accesses, how it's used, and what we do not collect.

What MemeReact Accesses

MemeReact uses Android's Accessibility Service to read the text you type in messaging apps. This is used solely to suggest relevant meme reactions in real time. The text is processed entirely on your device using an on-device machine learning model.

What We Collect

MemeReact collects anonymous usage analytics to improve meme suggestions:

• Draft text — the text you typed when a meme was suggested (used to improve relevance)
• Suggestion interactions — which memes were shown, selected, or ignored
• Timing data — how quickly you responded to suggestions
• Device locale and country — to improve regional meme relevance
• Anonymous device identifier — a random ID generated on install (not linked to your identity)

What We Do NOT Collect

• Your name, email, phone number, or any personal identifiers
• Your contacts or address book
• Passwords, financial information, or credit card details
• Full message history or conversation content
• Photos, files, or media from your device
• Location data (GPS) — we only use your device's language/region setting

On-Device Processing

All AI/ML inference happens on your device. Your typed text is never sent to our servers for processing. The machine learning model runs locally using MediaPipe.

Data Storage

Anonymous usage analytics are stored on our servers (Cloudflare R2) for the purpose of improving the meme suggestion algorithm. This data cannot be used to identify you personally.

Third-Party Services

Meme images are served from Cloudflare's content delivery network. Cloudflare may collect standard web server logs (IP addresses, request timestamps). See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.

Accessibility Service Usage

MemeReact uses Android's Accessibility Service permission to:

• Detect when you are typing in a supported messaging app
• Read the text you are currently typing
• Position the meme suggestion overlay above your keyboard
• Copy selected memes to your clipboard

The Accessibility Service is NOT used to read notifications, interact with other apps' content, perform actions on your behalf, or collect data from apps other than supported messaging apps.

Your Data Rights

You have the right to request deletion of any data associated with your device. To exercise this right:

1. Uninstalling the app removes all on-device data (your engagement history, user profile, and cached memes).
2. To request deletion of usage analytics previously uploaded to our servers, email us at privacy@memereact.app with the subject "Data Deletion Request". We will delete all records associated with your device within 30 days.

You do not need to provide any identifying information with your request. If you wish to specify a particular device, you can find your anonymous device identifier by emailing us — we'll walk you through locating it via an in-app settings option (coming soon) or by providing an approximate installation date and country.

Data Retention

On-device data persists until you uninstall the app or clear its data from your phone's settings. Server-side analytics data is retained for up to 12 months, after which it is automatically deleted.

Children's Privacy

MemeReact is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
